The main difference is the static sitemap will not update until you edit it, but in the case of a dynamic sitemap, it will get updated without needing anyone.

Comparison of Static Sitemap vs Dynamic Sitemap,

I hope you understand what my point is. And let me give you a live example of a static and dynamic sitemap.

I have given two images in this section, where one is a static sitemap and the other is a dynamic sitemap,

real time crawling of static sitmap

and if you see the last reading date, you will realise what I'm trying to say.

real time crawling of dynamic sitmap

If you compare this to images, then you will notice the dynamic sitemap gets updated in real-time.

Advantages and Disadvantages

They're so many advantages and disadvantages of having a static sitemap. Let me walk you through that as well.

Advantages of Static Sitemaps,

  • It is easier to create, and you can even use a sitemap generator to generate your sitemap.

Disadvantages of Static Sitemap,

  • Hard to maintain whenever you post a new blog, you need to edit this sitemap manually, and you can imagine how painful it is to update the sitemap when you make any changes.
  •
  • The static sitemap does not get updated in real-time.

Advantages of Dynamic Sitemap,

  • Easier to maintain, in case you are using WordPress, then rank math will manage for you.
  •
  • Better for SEO because the content will get updated in real-time.

Disadvantages of using Dynamic Sitemap,

  • Requires programming skills to create a dynamic sitemap, and if you are using WordPress, then rank math will manage for you.
  •
  • It will consume your API limit or backend resources.
  •
  • Not easier to set up if you do not have proper knowledge about it.

SEO Freindly URL

According to Google's official documentation, which says that a static-looking URL is better from an SEO perspective, what do I mean by a static-looking URL?

For instance,

And this is how static-looking URLs look like

And this is not static looking URL,
